Going-to-the-Sun Road
One of America's great drives starts one mile from the chalets and climbs fifty miles across the Continental Divide.

Four places that make the one-mile drive worth it, from the lake to the alpine ridge.
Outfitters minutes away, grocery runs on the way in, and the short list of places worth the drive into Apgar, Columbia Falls, and Whitefish.

Glacier Guides and Montana Raft are minutes from the chalets in West Glacier. Stop by for half-day floats on the Middle Fork or e-bike rentals for Going-to-the-Sun Road.

There's no full grocery in West Glacier. Hit Super 1 or Smith's in Columbia Falls on the drive in — 25 minutes out — or detour through Whitefish for a bigger run.

A short list that gets repeated because it works — pizza after a long hike, huckleberry pie on the way back from Lake McDonald, and a sit-down dinner in Apgar when you don't want to cook.
